Governor El-Rufai Flags Off Medical Commodities and Equipment For DFID MNCH2 Project

Society for Family Health, Nigeria partners with Palladium, Options and other partners in implementing a DFID-funded Maternal Newborn and Child Health programme (MNCH2) to improve health status of women and enhance child survival in six Northern States; Jigawa, Kaduna, Kastina, Kano, Yobe and Zamfara.

As part of the collaborative effort towards achieving this goal, on Tuesday 3rd, 2017, Governor El-Rufai flagged off the distribution of health commodities and equipment to support this project in Kaduna state courtesy DFID – UK Department for International Development. In his words “we acknowledge the critical input of the medical supplies and implore all beneficiaries to put to good and immediate use to benefit our mothers, newborns, children and by implication the people”. He also addressed challenges raised by MNCH2 National Team Lead Dr Salma Anas-Kolo, who was ably represented by Farouk Yusuf, Demand Creation Advisor and SFH Director, on infrastructure, human resource for health and security within the state. He appreciated all implementing partners for contributing to the supply change improvement and assures commitment to sustaining high quality of care for mothers, newborns and children in the state.

The 16 containers of drug supplies valued at N390 million which were flagged off at this event will make a huge difference by immensely contributing to the reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality rate in Northern Nigeria in general and Kaduna state in particular.
